Greetings on this wonderful Wednesday! I'm delighted to share a quick update on the exciting new developments that will be implemented on our website and app.
To start with, the website is being rebuilt from scratch. At present, it may appear a little outdated, almost reminiscent of the late 90s. Although I'm not an expert in UI design, I have been working with some fantastic UI kits to give it a more polished and professional appearance. The launch is planned for April 2023.
In addition, we have some fantastic new features planned for the app, such as the option to add photos directly to your journal entries and leave comments on them. These additions will be introduced after the new website is released, tentatively scheduled for May 2023.
Ultimately, the plan is to incorporate all of the website's features into the app and vice versa. For instance, you will be able to access other Thru-Hiker Journals and maps from the app. To achieve this, we are investigating the use of React Native for both mobile and web, which is an ambitious undertaking that may take some time to complete, probably in 2024.
