It had been a warm night which was a nice change from the Sierra. I woke at 5 but Marcus wasn't ready for the early starts yet so we didn't get moving until after 7am. We had patches of dry trail but still lots of snow which made things slow and tiring and we realised that the spikes Marcus had ordered were the wrong ones so we couldn't wear traction. We aimed to make it 13 miles today but wouldn't catch up with Shortcut yet as our low mile day yesterday set us back. We wanted to stop hiking at 5 as Marcus was pretty tired still and had a bit of cold but ended up hiking later to find a flat dry spot, once again we nestled under some trees in a valley which ment little evening sun again!
