I woke at 4:30 after a very bad nights sleep with the wind keeping us all up. I packed up quickly, Yeehaw had already left but me and Shortcut left together wanting to hike the final section of the Sierra together. Buddy soon overtook us but we had all agreed to meet down my the sign and the road by 9am. We had been hoping for mostly dry trail for these last 8 miles but it felt like 70% snow. Motivation of a shower, laundry and food kept us going and we got through the ice, slush and suncups. The final views over the Sierra was beautiful in the morning light and we both felt a little emotional finishing this section after everything we had been through, ewe I so ready for it to be over but at the same time knew we would miss it so much. We got down to the road at 8:45 and got a picture by the Senora pass sign with Buddy and Yeehaw before trying to hitch. We got a ride real quick from a Quantum Physics University professor and he agreed to drop me and shortcut straight off at Kennedy Meadows North and take Buddy and Yeehaw down to the post office in Pinecrest. Slide was already at KMN and we ate breakfast with him catching up on stories of the last few days. We Signed into the log book, Slide was no. 63 through the Sierra, I was 65, shortcut 66, and when Buddy and Yeehaw arrived later they were 68 and 69. Not bad out of all 4000 odd hikers. We showered and did laundry and then got in some beers and hung out as group making the most of our time together as we prepared to go separate ways for a bit. Buddy had to rush off and start booking it to make it to Canada in time for good and Gils holiday at the beginning of September, Alice also wanted to leave the next day for some solo hiking time. I has to wait for Marcus and Shortcut decided to wait with me until Monday. Year decided we would go in the middle and leave on Sunday
