We started early to make up for the lost miles due to the storm the night before. We continued along the side of falls creek looking for a safe place to cross, Slide has advised along with others on FarOut that you should cross up in the meadows where the water is only thigh deep and the current is slow. But this ment we had to first cross Tilden creek than flows into Falls Creek, this was raging and in the dark it was hard to find a good spot. Buddy got into the water to test out a section but he struggled to move his feet against the current and it got waist deep and times so he gave up and we continued to the stream looking for spots. Luckily further up where the stream Split we found a combination of snow bridges and logs to cross on, we had our trail runners on as we thought we would be getting our feet wet and on the last long crossing a branch caught my boot on my bag and pinged it into the raging river, we could do nothing but watch my hiking boot along with the sealskinz and toe liner sock that was tucked into it get carried away. I was gutted as they were soo new and it was such a waste but had to let it go. It also ment I was hiking in trailer runners and normal socks for the rest of the time - so cold wet feet all day. Crossing Falls Creek in the meadows was very chill and we soon warmed up after navigating the huge suncup fields on the approach to Dorothy Pass - officially the end of Yosemite. Unfortunately the snow and supcyos continued down the other side, but hitting the 1000 mile marker lifted our moods. We decided we would just book it today and try to get as close as we could to Sonora Pass so we could arrive there tomorrow morning. This ment finishing the day too a huge climb up scree and loose soil. It was close to 6 when we started the climb. We were hungry and tired and cooked our dinner at the base so our would be ready to eat as soon as we arrived at the top. The climb wants a bad as I was expecting and I was just a minute behind buddy, but my hot pad Thai leaked out of my pan and all down my bag pocket. When we got to the top we could spot a red tent about a half mile in the distance - the cowboy! We're decided we had to go camp next to Yeehaw so we caught him up and set up camp on top of a very windy mountain. By this time we had been hiking for over 15 hours, we were exhausted and starving, we quickly ate and got into bed.
