It was a cloudy start and our tents were wet but it wasn't raining when we packed up or started hiking. We had just a few miles left of the Piute trail and the couple of miles were snow free. We had a few river crossings, the first couple we found snow bridges for but the more we descended the few stable bridges so we had to get our feet wet, luckily none were too deep or raging. It was nice to join back onto the PCT and the first 5 miles were snow free which was a little surreal but made for a nice change, there was lots of grass growing and some yellow flowers popping up, it was very pretty. We spotted lots of deer in this section, some from pretty close before they scarpered away. We had a steep incline that started on the dirt trail and ended on snow as we ascended back up to do Selden Pass. We had another shallow but get your feet wet crossing before the final ascent to the pass. It was late in the day and the snow was slushy so the initial traverse was exhausting which every other step slipping out from under you. Finally after the last straight up ascent we made it to the top to a beautiful view of the mountains the other side. We didn't hang around long as we could see lots of grey storm clouds forming so we slid down in the slush to a river below to camp with a little shelter from some trees. We managed to eat dinner outside before it started to rain at 3:30, the thunder and lightning started just after 4 and it was super loud so the storm must have been right above us
