Last night we got absolutely battered by the wind, it started just after we went to bed around 6 and it felt like it kept me up all night, even with my ear plugs in I can hear it whipping against the tent. So when my alarm went off at 2:10 I was exhausted. We packed up in the wind and set off with our headlamps on. Although it was windy it wasnt cold and the snow hadn't really frozen overnight so even at 3 am We were postholing a bit. Today was going to be a slow day. It was mainly descent in the morning and we moved slow and steady. My pack was still hurting my back a lot and shortcut also found the same so we needed frequent short breaks. It was beautiful as it started to get light and the sun rose over the snowy Sierra. We were surprised by how many dirt patches there were around and how often you could actually see the dirt trail, we were expecting this point to be completely snow covered. As the day got warmer the post holing  got more frequent so we called it quits around 1 and set up on a flat spot of snow. We could see a river just at the bottom of the valley so we collected water down there and enjoyed laying outside in the sunshine eating dinner (dinner time is now 2:30pm) before heading to bed
