It was another early start so we could reach Kennedy Meadows, 26 miles away by dinner. I hadn't slept well so I was tired when I woke but got on the trail at 5. We had an ascent down the mountain first thing, my hiking top, bra and shorts where all still wet and cold from the rain yesterday, I put my shorts on but hiked down the hill in my sleep thermal top whilst I tried to dry out my things on my bag. I stuck them on before the ascent, still damp but figured it we keep me cool for the first part of it. It was a pretty long ascent but the only major one of the day. We had arranged to meet for lunch 17 miles in at a river at the bottom of the valley after the ascent/descent. I stopped for my porridge at the top of the ascent with Ghost and he pointed out all the snowy peaks in the Sierra that we could see and what they were, there was a lot of snow up there. Me and Ghost arrived at the lunch spot just before 12 and the others staggered in after. E had planned to hike the last 9 miles of the desert together to round off this pretty momentous occasion. It was hot hiking after lunch and we didn't get much shade down in the valley, the first 5 or so miles passed quickly as we chatted away but the final few miles dragged and we were exhausted my then. My period has also started today which was draining my body of energy. Finally we saw the road into Kennedy Meadows - we had made it! 703 miles under out belts, the longest single part of the pct completed! We got the obligatory picture by the KM sign and then luckily a guy pulled over and offered us a lift down the road to grumpy bears Restuarant, we hopped in the back of his truck (with his huge but scared dog) so grateful that we didn't have to do the whole road walk. I enjoyed a very tasty vegan burger and fries and cold beer, followed by big ripe mango - just what i was craving. We decided we would camp here tonight as it was free and the re was a washing machine and showers that we could use in the morning. We set up our tents and then went back for more food- I had a vegan ice cream milkshake, before calling it a night at 8
