It was another early start for another big climb, but it felt a little more gradual than the one from the day before which was nice. The surroundings where starting to feel more alpine with big rocky mountain's everywhere you looked. I was feeling good today and the miles seemed easier on my body, perhaps a mix of the bag being a bit lighter now, no water carries longer than 12.2 miles and it being a little cooler. As i was coming down the other side of the mountain from the morning climb I passed the 25% marker - quite a milestone and not one I had realised we would pass today! We stopped for a break all together at the first stream 12.2 miles in and decided we all felt good and would try to make it one camp further than we originally planned, pretty much making it a 25 mile day - and our biggest ascent day too. I then walked another 5 miles to the next stream where i stopped for lunch with ghost, shortcut, buddy arrest and yeehaw, beer slide had already cracked on ahead. on the next climb up the afternoon clouds started to offer some shade which I was very grateful for, then the thunder and a few rain drops started to fall and I figured it would be a light shower for 10 mins like the emerging pattern of the last few days. Then it start to pour and I was soaked in seconds, I got put my raincoat and put it over my bag as not everything inside was in my pack liner, figuring i would rather get wet than have wet stuff for camp. Then the hail started. It was a mix of heavy rain and hail for at least 20 mins, I was dripping wet and a little chilly. once the rain has stopped I took off my hiking top and put on my puffy, I rung out my hiking top and strapped it to my bag in the hope it would dry out a bit. The next few miles were soggy and the sun didn't come back out, it looks like it will be wet clothes for tomorrow, even my bra was soaked. Beer Slide and Ghost has pitched up at an earlier campsite but I decided to push on as walking was starting to warm me up and I wasn't ready to stop and set up my tent all cold yet. Me, yeehaw, shortcut and Buddy arrest camped together. W/e had to eat inn our tents as it started raining again bit then stopped at 7:30 just after shortcut arrived.
