I woke just before 5 to try and get an early start and packed up quietly so to not wake Shortcut and Beer Slide. Buddy Arrest left before me around 5:20 and I left shortly after. Shortcut was just getting up as I left. My bag still felt very heavy and I knew I was going to be slow today, slow and steady with lots of short breaks. It was 16 miles till water and I wanted to get there for lunch so I could take an extended break there out of the heat. There are lots of blowdowns to navigate and every one that I had to sit on to climb over I took a quick break on. Today felt like the hardest day off trail for me so far, the heat and heavy bag, long water carry and feeling tired from yesterday it was a bit of a slog. The views helped and we went through lots of beautiful pine wooded areas. And we passed the 600 mile marker before lunch, just 100 miles of desert left! Tristan was already at the water source for lunch when Me and Yeehaw arrived at the the same time, Beer Side rolling in shortly after. I hit a new level of hiker trash today when I washed my socks and pants in my Cnoc, everyone found out pretty amusing. We had another 7 miles after lunch till the campsite we had arranged to meet at, it was a beautiful stretch through the trees and for the first few miles I felt good after the break. The sky was blue with a few fluffy white clouds and one grey one, all of a sudden I heard thunder from right above me, the singular grey cloud, the thunder clashed for the next 10 mins and then some light rain started to fall, it was actually pretty nice and it cooled me down a little. It lasted less than 10 mins though and the sun was soon back out to dry everything off. The last couple of miles were difficult, I was so tired, my hips and my feet were hurting and camp couldn't come soon enough. This camp spot was a free campground next to a dirt road and as it was a Friday there were some non hikers there to, included a big lots group off guys having abbq and driving around on dirt bikes, they also had a very noisy generator, I was grateful to have god earplugs. I arrived first and beer slide shortly after. Yeehaw rocked up 40-50 mins later completely exhausted as he has done 27 miles today. Then Tristan and Ghost rolled in followed by shortcut, we sat around chatting for a bit before getting into our tents around 7:30. Ghost told us about his good deed of the day where he has helped a guy who has cut open his head on a tree, ghost cleaned the wound, wrapped him up and made sure he wasn't concussed, the guy called a trail Angel and arranged for them to pick him up from the closet dirt road as he needed to get to hospital to get stitches! On FarOut someone has left a comment that a trail Angel comes to our campsite every Saturday morning to make breakfast for hikers so we have our fingers crossed for the morning
