I woke to my alarm at 4:15 and me and Yeehaw packed up and hit the trail with our headtorch on by 5am, it was a warm clear morning with the crescent moon and starts shining brightly over the mountains. I was glad to be doing the majority of the ascent before sunrise and managed to get up pretty quickly without the heat of the sun beating down on me. Watching the sunrise over the mountains as we ascended was beautiful. I passed the campsite where ghost and shortcut were at around 6:30, shortcut was just walking up and ghost was sleeping in his tent still so after grabbing a couple of Oreos from the trail magic box and refilling my water I didn't wait and cracked on. I passed Beer Slide's camp 10 mins after and we was just walking too so after a quick chat i carried on, it was nice to get some miles out of the way before the heat. It was mostly down from here to the next water cache by the road, I listened to a podcast about hiking the Sierra in a high snow year for preparation and enjoyed the views of the spring flowers and the huge wind farms surrounding us. I took a good break at the water chance and Beer Slide, Ghost and Yeehaw caught up, we then continued on to finish the next 9 miles so we could catch a ride into Tehachapi. Just before we left the cache a trail Angel Oblivious showed up with some cold drinks and said he would pick us up from the highway in 9 miles and drive us to Tehachapi. We had another stretch of uphill but me and beer slide passed the time by getting into a discussion about consumerism, climate change, energy, vegan and society. We made it to the highway by just after 1 and Oblivious was there already, he could only fit 5 at a time so on a first come first serve basis me and Beer Slide got a lift along with Brolly (Irish) and 2 other hikers. Ghost and Tori followed in another ride and Shortcut arrived a few hours later. We planned to camp in a trail angel, Sarah's, garden - hiker haven. It has a shower, some shade, a portaloo, and a shed full of snack and drinks and course to sleep on in the garden, there were even bikes you could borrow to cycle around town. Sarah was lovely and vegan too so gave me lots of recommendations for places to eat and gave me some vegan ranch to try. We did our laundry and the laundromat and then came back to shower. We cycled to a pizza place for dinner which was super tasty. The pedal bike fell off though and Beer Slide ended up cycling it with one pedal which kept us entertained. Once back we soon settled into bed.
