The wind died down in the night so it wasn't chilly but it also rained so I woke to a soaked tent, it wasn't going to set off anytime soon so I packed up anyway and would have to dry it at lunch. It was nice walking as the sun was rising up over the hills and it was mostly descent in the morning. It was lots of long traverses around green mountains today. I took a mid morning breakfast break with Beer Slide on a nice bench under a tree out of the sun. Although it was morning it was already getting hot. We planned to have lunch 15 miles in and an old fire ranger station where there was a water spigot, I arrived around 12:40 and laid my tent out to dry. Beer Slide was already there and Yeehaw and Ghost arrived shortly after followed by Shortcut. E ended up lounging around until 2:15 waiting for the hottest part of the day to be over as we were being again on a climb. It still felt hot but after food and a rest it was manageable. The last few miles of the day I was a little tired and looking forward to getting to camp. We had a lush campsite down by a river, pitching up on the flat sand banks. It looked like it would be a warm night not dropping below 10°C so i decided to ditch the rain fly. E sat eating dinner with our feet in the river and then played cards on the sand after, before we knew it it was 8pm - bedtime!
