Miles Hiked: 13.7
Miles: 13.7
Total Trail Miles: 239.9
Ascent/Descent: 5039/212 ft
Start Time: 06:35
End Time: 14:35
Temperature: 23°C (73)

I had my best night of sleep on trail, it was the perfect temperature, I slept with the rain flat door open, didn't need to do up my quilt and wasn't cold in the morning. We hit the trail by 6:35 and startet by getting wet feet from crossing the river next to our camp, we didn't bother taking socks off and insoles out as we had over 20 river crossings in the next 10 miles so we just had to get used to having wet feet. The crossings were relentless at the beginning, not deep, just up to shins but a strong enough currents of icy water. Luckily your feet would warm up again pretty quickly with the walking and all the ascent. It was all up up up today, We gained over 5000ft (1524m). It was a little cooler today thankfully but still hot in the desert sun but was we got bigger you could feel the air temperature drop in the shaded sections. Snow was soon back in sight. But soo were angry rattlesnakes, I saw a big one crossing the path and Eleanor had one hiss at her. We decided we would stop at just 13.7 miles today as the snow on trail begins right after this campsite and we wanted to hit the snow early in the morning so we arrived early afternoon and just hung out for a bit, it was a pretty campsite in the pine trees with the snow in the background . Two other hikers (Awesome & ?) we're already pitched up, they started in March so had flipped and we're going back SOBO, there were very friendly and we ate dinner with them. Laura from last night also joined us later on and just as e we're getting ready for bed Rimke and Loeke also showed up, a busy night! I got into bed early as we are planning on starting at 5 tomorrow to catch the snow whilst it's hard.
