I didn't sleep the best on the snow as my feet got pretty cold and in the morning it was hard to get up and ready as the ground of the tent was so cold on the snow. We packed up as the sun rose and set off just after 6 to finish Fuller Ridge before it got too slushy. It didn't drop below freezing last night so the snow wasn't as hard but it was doable and only sketchy in places. The more we descended the more the snow turned slushy and harder to walk on so we were glad when we hit Black Mountain Road (where hikers who were skipping San Jacinto were joining) and we knew there was only about another mile of snow from there. It felt good to get the microspikes off the feet and before we knew it we were back in the desert dreaming of the cool off the snow. We stopped for a lunch break by the first river and washed our feet and socks for the first time in 3 days. We devoured a whole bunch of food and talked about what we would like to eat for lunch in Cabazon tomorrow for our Nero. We hiked a further 7 miles after the river to a camp spot where we knew we would only have to do 8 miles in the morning. I called mum on the way down as the signal was good and enjoyed seeing the desert flowers again, we even saw our first cactus blooms - bright pink flowers. Devin had an angry rattlesnake jump out at him from under a bush so I was a little on edge after that but didn't see one myself. It was only a 14 mile day but as half of it was in the snow it felt longer and we were pleased to rest in the shade as it was super hot. We set up our tents and lazed around chatting before bedtime rolled around shortly after 7. It was our warmest evening so far and we sat out in super even after the sun had gone down.
