I started early wanting to reach Ollalie Lake for breakfast where I planned to stop for a quick snack and coffee. It was mostly downhill there and I arrived around 8:30. I saw bobcat & shortcut there who had camped there last night, they were planning on doing the 24hour challenge today wanting to make it all the way to Timberline Lodge by breakfast tomorrow, 51 miles away! I got some snacks and had a coffee before continuing on my way. I got chatting to another hike called Salty who I ended up having my lunch break with. We also met another friendly older hiker named Diesel D at a water source and all chatted for a bit. I had to keep moving though or I wouldn't hit my 40 miles. The smoke at one point got bad but seemed to lift again thankfully. The last few miles in the dark were hard, I felt tired and was very aware of all the glowing eyes in the forest (all deer luckily) so when O reached my campsite 41.3 miles in I was very happy to put up my tent and crawl into bed.
