It was just 15 miles into Mazama Village, both me ans Lucky set off early so we could arrive mid morning and hike the exposed burn section before it got too hot. Lucky set off 15 mins before me but I caught up with her quickly as her injury was bad again today, we walked nearby each other whilst it was dark as she was worried aboht mountain lions as she was walking with a limp. The sunrise was eerie in the burn section with lots of fog/smoke and clouds about. The clouds ment we got additional sun protection even after the sun rose. I waited for Lucky at the turning into Mazama Village and we walked in together. First stop was the cafe where we got an early lunch, it was expensive and not that great but all there was. We then headed to the shop across the parking lot where we based ourselves outside with the other hikers. We picked up our resupply boxes, made use of the free showers and laundry and chatted to the other hikers. Spliffy showed up around lunchtime and lots of hikers were discussing getting to Trail Days. My lLucky found a lift to bend and then up to cascade locks so she could rest for a few days. I said my goodbyes and hitched up to the t ranger station to get a permit to camp at lightning springs campsite on the rim trail. After charging everything in Rim Village I then hiked out along the rim trail a few miles to the campsite turning. A lovely couple in a van gave me a drink and I sat and ate my dinner with a view over crater lake. It was so beautiful, I couldn't get over how big it was with Wizard Island in the middle. The campspots was 1 mile back and down from the rim, by a little creek. I see up and went straight to sleep
