I started early again wanting to beat the heat, Lucky had left 20 or so minutes before me but we yoyo'd with each other all day as we each stopped to rest and stretch or get water. The first 12 miles also was mostly in the shade of the trees, but then we began to climb up into more exposed areas and it was very very hot that was nice to finally get some views. I took an early lunch to hide from the heat at around 12 and then you I had to push on wanting to get as close to Mazama village as possible today at the top of the first climb, I turn the corner to see Spliffy lying under a tree resting in the shade. It was good to see him again and catch up. He was also planning on getting to crater lake tomorrow so knew we would see each other then if not before and he was also planning on going to Trail Days. eventually we started to descend, back to water and back to some tree cover. Despite it being a hot day with a lot of climbing me and lucky we're making good We discussed camping spots as we are filling water and soaking your feet in the first river after the descent it sounded like our plans would align. I stopped to eat dinner at the last water source before camp. This was also the last water source before Mazama village a 20 mile water carry. I loaded up 4 litres and hiked slowly the remaining 4 miles up to camp. It wasn't long before me and lucky we're both asleep.
