I slept better last night. The pain in my foot is getting more bearable each day. So I woke in better spirits today. I plan to get ready to get back on trial again. I headed to the café to have breakfast and enjoy a coffee whilst I planned out my next resupply, I contacted blaze physio to ask advice and milage for when I start hiking again, and she suggested that I reduce my mileage by 20% and see how my pain level is the day after - If the pain has increased above 3 out of 10 then I have to reduce my mileage and if it is a 3 out of 10 or less I can try pushing more. It felt good to be productive in planning for the trial again. I called Mum to catch up with her and caught up on some of my messages before getting ready to head into town to sort out my chores. I borrowed a bike from the hostel and cycled into town which felt good and headed to the outdoor shop to meet with Foot Jesus who I have been recommended to see by blaze physio to get some orthotic insoles before I start hiking again. They were super friendly in the outdoor shop, the fifth season. I managed to buy a new pair of Darn Tough socks to replace my wholey injinji socks and I bought a new lightweight sleeping top to replace my midweight sleeping top to make my pack a bit later. I also picked up a couple of vegan dehydrated meals and then went over to speak to the foot Jesus, he took a look at my feet and could see that I had high arches, and hallux valgus and asked about my operation, so knew that I had pins in my feet, he looked at my old insoles and could see the pressure points on them and was able to identify that a lot of pressure was going into three points rather than being spread over my foot so to support my high arches, he found some insoles with high cushioning, and he filed them down the shape of my feet, lowering the insole around my big toe. Next on the todo list was picking up my leggings that I had ordered to sleep in and posting home my stove pot, and my old sleep top. In the post office and met another hiker called Minx who mentioned that he was about to go to the cinema with two other hikers and asked if I wanted to join, the film started in half an hour so will give me just enough time to resupply and cycle over so I said I'd meet them there. I got my food from the supermarket and arrived at the cinema just in time for the film to start l. Me and Brooke and the other hiker got tickets to see openheimer but Minx ended up going to see Indiana Jones as he was a big fan and it was the last day it was showing. It was really nice going to the cinema for the first time in so long, sitting in a nice cold room and doing something quite normal but felt pretty surrea. It was a really good film. The two boys then left to catch a bus back to trail. I exchanged contact details with Brooke as we thought we could share a ride back to the trail in the morning as she was also staying in town for the night. I cycled back to the hostel and sorted out my resupply and all my new pieces ready for the morning. I was then pretty exhausted so I just cooked some asparagus and pasta for dinner and watched a bit of a film before heading to bed. annoyingly, there was a group outside the campsite, having a barbecue and playing music late, but my earplugs blocked most of it out. my foot was much more comfortable, giving me a better night sleep.
