I tried not to think to much about this being our last day together but every now and then it creeped into my mind and a wave of sadness hit me. Now I had shared part of my hiking journey with Marcus I wanted to share more of it with him, knowing it was going to be hard to adjust to him not being there in my tent with me anymore. For our last day we decided we would hitch down to Downieville, the next town along where we had heard there were good river swimming holes. First we enjoyed a slow morning enjoying coffee and breakfast whilst coming up with van conversion ideas. We caught a hitch to Downieville with a lovely couple who told us the best spot to swim and recommended a place for lunch. We headed for lunch once we arrived, Marcus getting the recommended chicken salad sandwich and me getting a seasonal fruit salad (savoury salad with fruit - super tasty). We picked up some beers and went to find a good river spot. Once again we felt like we were on holiday sunbathing on the river back and then going in for a dip to cool off, it was much colder than the lake so I only went in to my waist. We ate dinner back at the apartment, watched wild and then made the most of the jacuzzi tub before bed
