Trail: There were a couple views of Big Bear Lake (very pretty), but the trail mostly stays on the other side of the hills as it winds down. A trail angel named Mama Tinkerbell left a cooler of snacks and waters at a campsite as trail magic, and I got a little chicken salad sandwich. ☺️
Campsite: An anthill near the river at the Holcomb Crossing trail camp. There aren't any amenities here, but I can get water in the morning and listen to the frogs. The mosquitos are thriving, but there are also hummingbirds zooming around catching them.
People: I passed Disco Moth (Bianca) before the first creek crossing and she may camp here when she gets in. I hiked the last two miles with Rango, who recently graduated with a Business and Information Systems degree. We're camped with an slightly older couple whose names I didn't catch, but one of them is on the board of the PCTA. He thinks the steel bridge near Piute Pass will be fixed by the end of the summer, but probably not early enough for hikers to use it this season.
Tomorrow: I'll be passing by the Deep Creek area hotsprings, so I may stop to visit if they aren't busy. If I make really good time, I may be able to get a ride to the Joshua Inn for a sandwich, shower, and $5 camping.
