Day 13
Miles Hiked: 0
Mile 176.4 to Mile 179.4 (Saddle Junction, Idyllwild)
- Trail: I took the Tahquitz Valley alternate to Saddle Junction to do slightly less climbing. It goes through a snowy valley with some pine forest and snowmelt streams. The boottrack was mostly melted, so I did a bit of wayfinding to get across some sections. The Devil's Slide spur is well-maintained and popular with locals.
- Campsite: No campsite! Staying at the Fireside Inn in Idyllwild instead. It's a little cabin that has summer camp vibes.
- People: I briefly hiked with B from Wales, but otherwise I just met some day hikers on the spur to Idyllwild.
- Tomorrow: A short hike to take the Devil's Slide spur back to Saddle Junction, then about two PCT miles to camp at the base of the San Jacinto peak alternate.
